There Is Confusion

This is the first novel by Jessie Redmon Fauset and it is a rich and wonderful introduction to the wonderful writing abilities of Faucet. The story centers around the lives of a group of friends and family coming of age during the late 1800's and early 1900's. You get a picture of the lives of the first generation not directly touched by slavery. We follow them as they navigate the new and changing Back middle-class worlds of New York and Philadelphia.
